Pearl And The Beard! "Three voices, one cello, one guitar, one glockenspiel, one melodica, several drums, one accordion, ninety-six teeth, and one soul."

Pearl And The Beard! From Brooklyn, NY. On Family Records.
Pearl And The Freakin' Beard! I just can't get over these guys' harmonies. And their musical interplay. And their glasses.
I emailed last week with Jeremy while P&TB were on tour over in the UK. Edited for brevity.
L: So sorry, but let me get the pedestrian questions out of the way first. You guys call Brooklyn home now, but where are you all from originally?
J: Jocelyn is from New Jersey, Emily is from Utah and Jeremy is from California.
L: How did you meet?
J: Open mics. Literally by doing the things we loved we met folks that were like minded and that we fell in love with.
L: Why "Pearl And The Beard"?
J: Why not? How can you differentiate between musical acts? Won't every single name be eventually taken and then folks just get assigned numbers? I think so. It sounded like a story yet to be told, and mysterious, but people take it literally. Let 'em.
L: Thanks. On to something hopefully more interesting. Were you guys able to do any busking on this recent UK tour?
J: Got one spot planned, for sure on Sunday. (I will update this to include video if and when it becomes available. ~lee.) But as we did in New York it will be a surprise.
L: Any thoughts on #OWS? Have you been down there?
J: Large crowds scare me if I can't disappear into a green room, but I definitely feel change needs to be made. I actually filmed something about breaking up with the banks. (Again, update, if and when, yada yada. ~lee.) I like to help out my friends on their projects and maybe be a part of history.
L: Finally, have you guys ever considered Lasik?
J: Nope. I personally have the same fear of jumping out of a plane, in that it would change my life, but that one potential and very real possibility that everything fucks up and you are donezo. Plus we like wearing glasses. They aren't like ties, in that they can be stylish but actually serve a purpose.
I myself wear contacts. And I disagree with Jeremy on the ties thing, but whatever. Let us know what you think.
